In our industry, safety and compliance are not one-time achievements — they are ongoing commitments. That’s why refresher training and re-accreditation play such a vital role in the work of engineers and companies across the automatic and industrial door sector.
Why do I need to refresh my qualification?
City & Guilds, the awarding body behind our accredited courses, requires engineers to refresh their qualifications every four years. This ensures that your knowledge and skills remain up to date with the latest standards, technologies, and industry practices.
Which courses require refreshers?
If you hold one of the following qualifications, you will need to refresh it every four years:
-
BS EN16005 (Automatic Pedestrian Doors)
-
Industrial Doors
-
Turnstiles
-
Gates & Barriers
How does it work?
The good news is that refreshers are simple, affordable, and entirely online:
-
Discounted price: Refresher courses are offered at a reduced rate compared to your initial training.
-
Convenient format: Everything is completed online, making it easy to fit into your schedule.
-
Recognition maintained: On successful completion, your updated qualification ensures you remain recognised on the DoorSafe Register.
What happens if I don’t refresh?
If a qualification is not renewed, your profile will be removed from the DoorSafe Register. An email will be sent to your company after the qualification has expired, confirming removal. For this reason, it’s a good idea to regularly check your DoorSafe listing to make sure all qualifications remain valid. As per our terms and conditions, only members or employees of members can sit our courses.
Why it matters
Refreshing your accreditations is about more than ticking a compliance box. It:
-
Demonstrates your ongoing commitment to safety.
-
Gives clients confidence in your professionalism.
-
Protects your business by ensuring all work meets the latest recognised standards.
Keeping qualifications current is an investment not just in your career, but in the safety and trust that underpin everything we do in this industry.
