Check an Engineer’s Certification

DoorSafe is the ADIA’s online register of engineers and their City & Guilds training certifications. It allows customers and employers to check an engineer’s photograph, completed accredited courses and relevant expiry dates. Simply scan the QR code on their DoorSafe card or search by name or ADIA engineer number at www.doorsafe.co.uk.

Finding an ADIA member and checking an engineer’s certification

When arranging work on your automatic doors, gates or barriers, you can use the ADIA member directory to find a company and the DoorSafe Register to check an individual engineer’s training.

Find a company

Visit the ADIA website and select Find a Member.

Companies with engineers on the DoorSafe Register are highlighted in yellow with a DoorSafe logo. When booking, ask the company to provide an engineer with current training relevant to the work you need.

Check the engineer attending your premises

You can view an engineer’s DoorSafe record in either of these ways:

  • Scan their card: Use your phone’s camera to scan the QR code on their DoorSafe card and open the link to their certification record.
  • Search online: Visit www.doorsafe.co.uk, select Verify an Engineer and search using their ADIA engineer number or name. Open their profile to view their certification.
What should you check?

Check that the name and photograph match the person attending your premises. Review the courses listed and any expiry dates, making sure the training relates to the work being carried out.

Engineers may hold different certifications for automatic pedestrian doors, gates and barriers, industrial doors or turnstiles. Registration alone does not mean an engineer holds every certification.

Understanding card renewal and training dates

DoorSafe cards are renewed annually. Training covered by the four-year refresher cycle must be renewed by completing the relevant refresher course.

Annual card renewal does not extend the expiry date of an engineer’s training. Always check the dates shown against the individual certifications.

Some courses show a Date Achieved rather than an expiry date. This records when the course was completed.

If something is unclear

If you cannot find the engineer, their details do not match or a relevant certification appears to have expired, ask the engineer or their employer for clarification before the relevant work begins. You can also contact ADIA at laura@theadia.co.uk

Checking the attending engineer’s record helps you confirm their listed training, even where their company has other DoorSafe-registered engineers.
